Venus Bay Real Estate – There are a variety of properties to buy, some with water views, several for permanent living, many holiday homes and all are walking distance to the waterfront, beach or river. Check with any of the three Real Estate Agents there for details of what is currently available for sale or rent. The prices are quite reasonable compared to most other towns situated by the sea and much cheaper than the boom towns of Inverloch and Wonthaggi.
Local Facilities – The supermarket stocks an excellent range of supplies and serves hot food in their café. There are several other cafes, a pizza shop, bars and takeaways, that are open mainly during the summer months and on weekends. The caravan park has great facilities for holiday makers and families and there is a good local hairdresser and masseur. I’m told that the pub at Tarwin Lower, runs a courtesy bus at various times of the year. There you’ll also find some other shops including a general store and an excellent Health Food Store< as well. Gas BBQ’s are at several conveniently located spots if you’d like to stop for a picnic and cook your own food. There’s a convenient Bicycle Track along the river between Venus Bay and Tarwin Lower, with lots of wildlife, birds and native flora to see along the way. What a terrific place for cycling, jogging or walking. Boat Ramps are located at Fisherman’s Jetty and Tarwin Lower. With five great surf beaches, river and estuary fishing, bush walking tracks at Point Smythe Reserve, delightful views of Andersons Inlet and so much more, Venus Bay gives you just about anything you could ask for. The Tarwin River – There are plenty of fishing spots along the river between Venus Bay and Tarwin Lower. The fishing shop at Venus Bay will provide you with Tide Charts and Fishing Licenses. The newly constructed series of boardwalks are a wonderful facility for making the best fishing spots easily accessible.
Native Wildlife & Birds – There’s no shortage of Wombats, Echidnas, Rabbits, Possums, Koalas and Kangaroos, so be careful when driving, especially at night time, as they wander freely in this area.
