Photos And Useful Information About Toora Post Office & Gift Shop
Well, Post Offices just aren’t like they used to be … but isn’t that a good thing! And the Gift range in the Toora Post Office is better than any I have ever seen. After stumbling across a woman with a gorgeous necklace and thanking her for telling me where she got it, I had to go straight down and have a look. Not only do they stock the most exquisite and affordable pieces of jewellery, you can find bags, clocks, wallets, toys, mobiles, ornaments, watches, sunglasses, candles, gift cards, perfume bottles, novelties and knick-knacks of all types. So if you appreciate fine quality, enjoy looking at unusual items or need to buy a gift for someone with good taste, this just has to be the place for you. Find out how to get there by visiting the Toora page.
History Of The Toora Post Office – The Post Office and residence have a significant amount of history attached to them, as the current site was purchased in 1912, and the buildings erected at a cost of 2000 pounds. You can read the full story on the history plaque at the front of the building. They really must have been proud when they opened in 1915 with Morse Code equipment and a telephone exchange. Apparently it wasn’t unusual to have to wait up to 2 hours for a connection to a Melbourne phone number.
What Else Is In Toora? – The township of Toora has some wonderful hidden treasures. The Royal Standard Hotel (the local pub) has the best reputation for great meals between Sale and Inverloch. The Windmill Café makes nice coffee and superb Home Baked Cakes and Hot Food. Carol Linton has some very interesting pieces in her Art Gallery in the main street, and the Toora Tourist Park has a great name as a high quality Caravan Park. The Corner Inlet Coastal Park (accessed on the way to the Toora Boat Ramp), has a beautifully built bird hide where you can sit in comfort and watch the range of migrating seabirds that flock to this area.
Toora Real Estate – While you’re in town, you may like to check out the real estate. The prices in Toora are quite cheap and it’s well worth making an appointment with one of the three Agents in Foster, who will be more than happy to show you around.
