Photos and Useful Information About Port Albert General Store, Cafe & Gallery
During the course of my working day, I came across this amazing Café and Gallery in Port Albert. As it turns out, that same day, the film crew from the lifestyle Television show ‘Getaway’ were also there doing a travel documentary on this beautiful and trendy fishing village. Even with all the excitement outside, I couldn’t help but be impressed by the friendly and warm atmosphere when I walked through the door. The Port Albert General Store contains a magnificently renovated café with an open fire, in a building that I had only ever known to be the Post Office. I heard that when they were pulling down the internal walls they found some historic treasures from the early 1900’s, but you’ll have to visit yourself to find out more about that. The Gallery is located at the rear of the building and displays some incredible sculptures, metal work, furniture, gifts and artwork, both inside and outside in the courtyards. Even the toilets are beautifully decorated … but just look at the photographs to get a better idea.

How To Get To Port Albert and The General Store & Gallery
Port Albert is just over a 3 hour road trip from Melbourne along the South Gippsland Highway, through Korumburra, Leongatha, Foster and Welshpool. It’s then only a short drive from where you turn-off at Alberton, just before the Caltex service station. An alternate route from Melbourne is to drive east along the Princes Highway to Traralgon, turn right towards Yarram on the Hyland Highway, then on to the South Gippsland Highway. You’ll find the General Store & Gallery on your right just after you enter the main town area.
