Port Franklin Township – On the coastal side of Foster you will find the sleepy little fishing village of Port Franklin. There’s hustle and bustle early most mornings as the fishing boats go out for the day, but weekdays are usually quiet and peaceful with little traffic and hardly a soul to be seen. Other than the tennis court, a church, a public phone and toilets, a post box and the fresh fish shop, there really isn’t much else to be found as far as amenities go, but the main shopping precinct in Foster is only a couple minutes drive away. Some of the local families who make their livelihood from fishing have lived in Port Franklin for up to 5 generations.

Riverbank Restoration Project – This great initiative funded by the Department Of Natural Resources And Environment has created a picturesque park, native gardens and a solidly constructed series of jetties and boat moorings where there was once only mangroves.

Port Franklin Real Estate – There is an array of properties to buy, some with water views and all walking distance to the waterfront. Check with any of the Real Estate Agents in Foster for details of what is currently available for sale or rent. The prices are quite low compared to most other towns situated so close to the water.

Self Composting Public Toilet – What a great idea to have more of these self composting toilets set up in public places as a benefit to the environment. This one in particular has been lovingly kept and is quite a tourist attraction in itself.

Corner Inlet Marine And Coastal Park – Parks Victoria have constructed a useful viewing platform that enables you to see over the coastal mangroves and out towards Wilson’s promontory. There are an abundance of birds to be seen as they find haven in the natural landscape.

Fresh Fish Supply – On certain days of the week you can drop in at the foreshore shop and purchase your fish directly from off the boats. You can’t get fresher than that!
