About The Walkerville Area - The area surrounding Walkerville is renowned for its rock formations. There is a report which describes them as, "one of the most interesting and complex geological sequences in Victoria".

From 1875 through the early 1900's, the Lime Industry employed up to 80 people, until the hills were quarried-out. The remains give us an indication of the power of the sea as well as an interesting place to explore.

How to Get To Walkerville -

A two and a half hour drive from Melbourne will comfortably get you to the shores of any of the beautiful Walkerville beaches, (approximately a 190 kilometer car trip), where you'll be able to find things to do at any time of the year.

Take the South Gippsland Highway through Cranbourne or Pakenham to Korumburra, Leongatha and then turn 5km after Koonwarra to Tarwin Lower. When you get to Tarwin Lower there is a turn left that is clearly signed to Walkerville.

Things To Do Around Walkerville - At the end of a no-through road, the beaches at Walkerville are very peaceful to visit most times of the year. The burnt out lime kilns left over from past activity are incredible to explore. There is a historic cemetery and the Cape Liptrap Lighthouse at the south-east most tip of Victoria, is a must-see experience.

Take a walk around Point Smythe, Waratah Bay or Andersons Inlet. Or do the short Limeburners Walk or the 1.2 kilometer Overlook Walk. See the historic Cemetery, go camping, swimming, fishing or boating, or just spend an afternoon exploring the rock pools and the remains of the lime kilns.

Stay at one of the remote accommodation lodges and experience the serenity of the area, or watch the wild and windy storms pound the coastline. I can imagine an electrical storm in this area would be awesome to watch and photograph.
