Darby Beach - Wilsons Promontory

Wilsons Promontory National Park is a diverse wilderness area at the south-eastern tip of Australia, with fantastic walking tracks, magnificent views, unusual features and beautiful scenery. It's also a wonderful place to go for bush walks and take photographs - at any time of year.

How To Get There - The turnoff to Darby Beach at Wilsons Promontory, is a few kilometers from Tidal River and about 10 minutes drive from the Park Entrance gateway. Turn right into the Darby River Car Park and take the short, easy 1.1 kilometer walk along the sandy track to this small beach with rocky headlands on either side.

From the Darby River Car Park you can also take the 4 kilometer walk to Tongue Point which is described as easy to moderate.

The photograph on the top of the page is the view across the fragile dunes and to the beach with Shellback Island in the distance. There are signs to encourage people to stay on the tracks as the dunes erode very easily.
