Coal Creek Historical Village ~ free entry

Where Is The Coal Creek Historical Village? - This community owned, leisure and educational facility is located just on the eastern outskirts of the Korumburra township on the South Gippsland Highway.

When Is It Open? - The Village is open Thursday to Monday each week...entry is FREE.

About Coal Creek - This facility is run mainly by passionate volunteers with an education officer, caretaker and full-time gardener in attendance. The management committee have a three year plan to expand and improve on the what is already a incredibly valuable community resource.

Historical Education Courses, Festivals and other events form a large part of the carefully thought-out plan. It's an ideal place for families, community groups, schools or even just by yourself, to spend some quality time.

Already, the Coal Creek Historical Village has been regularly used by a mothers walking group, an orchestra, gardening groups, Footscray City Film & TV School and the local Firefighters.

Events, Functions And Festivals - Functions like the 'Literary Festival', the Korumburra Buskers Festival, Children's Week, Family Fun Days, Halloween Celebration (with safe trick or treating for the children), Christmas Carols, the Throttlers Custom Car Club Rally and 'Classical In The Creek' look like being annual events at this excellent community venue.

Village Facilities - As well as being an interesting place to view old relics of bygone days, the Coal Creek Village provides a valuable resource for any community group who want to hold meetings or functions in any any of the available spaces including an auditorium, multi-media room, workshop or the museum.

There are some interesting pieces of craft and postcards to purchase in the main building and the general store further down the path has great old-time sweets, train whistles and other paraphernalia for sale and on view in their well stocked building...a great place to reminisce about what was in grandmas house or even in cupboards at home many years ago.

Things To Do - The 30 acres of outdoor areas make a delightful spot for adults and children to take a stroll among the well kept gardens, view the multitude of old building with the appropriate displays of antique wares, take a walk around the dam, enjoy a cup of coffee by the lake, have a barbeque in the park and there is even a delightful restaurant on site that serves delicious morning/ afternoon teas and lunches.

Of course, a train ride is a must-do activity with both the Steam and Diesel Trains operating on the weekends.
